Zooey Deschanel Hair Tutorial

I have always had a major girl-crush on Zooey Deschanel, and now New Girl is feeding this slight obsession. In honor of our Queen of Quirk here's a Zooey-esque half ponytail tutorial.

Step 1) Brushed and ready to go.

Step 2) Curl the top third of your hair.

Step 3) Gently run your fingers or a comb over the curls.

Step 4) Pull up a 1 inch section of hair spanning the top of your head and backcomb it at the base. Pull up and backcomb a section behind this one, and yet another behind the last.

Step 5) Lay the backcombed sections back down and carefully tame the top of your retro puff with a comb.

Step 6) Pull the top third of your hair back into a ponytail and secure tightly to help keep your puff in place.

WARNING: Do not go overboard with the puff. Do not Snooky it. Please.

Step 7) Curl the rest of your hair in small sections.

Step 8) Gently run a comb through the curls to loosen waves and backcomb at the base under your ponytail to create more volume if needed.

Step 9) Zooey's hair is all about framing her face. Frame yours by leaving your bangs down and pulling more hair free of the ponytail around your face. Curl if needed. IF you don't have bangs, just pull the hair that usually frames your face out of the ponytail (your leave it out from the beginning).

I tied a bow around the ponytail holder, because...well...I was trying to be quirky.

Have a great weekend!
