Voodoo Doll Pincushion DIY

I learned how to make a pincushion and decided to make one in...well...an unusual shape. Below is the pattern I used. All you need is a piece of felt, a large needle, and some yarn.

After you cut out the pattern, place it on the felt and trace it.

You'll need two of the body and one of the heart.

Before you start stitching your two bodies all the way around sew on the buttons, mouth, and heart to one of the bodies.

To stitch the two bodies together start by threading your large needle with your yarn. If it's too difficult to get the yarn through the eye of the needle you can always tie a piece of thread to the yarn and pull that and the yarn through the eye.

To start stitching the bodies together stitch through, tie a knot, and cut off the excess. Keep stitching from underneath, pulling through, and back around underneath.

Stitch all the way around, but leave a big enough hole to stuff the doll.

You can use many things to stuff your pincushion doll. Polyfill works just fine, but to give the pincushion some much needed weight and filling I use equal parts of recycled fleece and dry rice.

Stuff it VERY tightly and then stitch shut the hole.

All done! This tutorial could be used in any shape, but isn't he fun?
