She is using peacock feathers as an inspirational color palette for her event and so she wanted me to incorporate them into the piece. Here it is, girl!
And here are some different angles so you can see how it looks from the side and front.
I made the flower using the petal tutorial here and glued them in place with the clip on the back, similar to this tutorial.
As you can see, as you turn your head the peacock feathers pick up the light differently, making it such an interesting piece.
Each petal was hand crafted and dyed with English tea to match her dress.
The "bling", as Kayla puts it, was created in the center of the flower by arranging loose gems in a pretty pattern and then using silver pins to make it really look like an actual flower does. I believe they're called stamen. Thanks 9th grade science class!
The bling that grows out of the side of the flower with the feathers is a vintage pin I picked up back in Portland and wanted to hand down to Kayla in this piece. Anyway, she needs 'something old' on her wedding day. I added more gems to it, because...well...I thought she'd like it!
I love you, Kayla! Hope you enjoy your flower!
PS: You're lucky all my photos are inconveniently stashed in the back of our storage, or I would have posted a couple choice old timey pictures of us. ;)
